For a decade, many companies grew margin by growing volume. When the market flattens, that option disappears, and price becomes the lever that matters most.

Find the prices customers actually watch

In most portfolios, customers compare only a few hundred prices. Those must stay sharp. The rest have often been set on habit, and that is where margin is waiting.

Cut the promotions that do nothing

Many promotions move sales from one week to the next without adding a single customer. Measuring that is simple, and stopping them pays back within a quarter.

Shoppers kept coming, because the prices they watch did not move.

Test before you roll out

  1. Choose a sample of stores or customers.

  2. Run the new prices for four weeks against a matched control group.

  3. Roll out only what held volume and lifted margin.
